Plenty of suggestions are floating around as to who could replace Andy Rooney. The Best Show set on Twitter seem to be behind Paul F. Tompkins.
As far as I can tell, NPR reporter Frank Deford seems to be vying for the position regardless. Evidence: “We’re All Just Guys.”
“Now every mother’s son is a guy and every mother’s daughter, too,” he writes. “If they wrote the musical now, it wouldn’t be called Guys and Dolls –– just Guys and Guys.”
He’s a sports columnist over at National Public Radio, but I’m sure if you asked, he could vamp on sleep, desks, or whatever else for two minutes a week.
