James Brotheridge Falls Behind

There are some things that I could blog. There are some things that I even hear about well before they hit the internet large. I could drop them on here, and I would have a little time stamp that, in place of July 30, 2011, it would read “James Brotheridge is just super on it.”

But sometimes you gotta kick it over to the right man. In this case, it was Craig Silverman, proprietor of the wonderful blog Regret the Error.

The error in question was in a story on true crime writer Ann Rule. The Seattle Weekly had accepted a freelance piece that made the argument that one of her books was based on false conclusions.

The writer of the piece, however, turned out to now be engaged to the subject of Rule’s book, leading to a huge editor’s note at the top of the article on the Weekly’s website. It probably lead to a huge editor’s headache, too.

Silverman was the right man for the job, and had the right site to post it on. I was happy to kick it over to him. I got a little “Thanks, James!” at the end of the piece, which I was happy about.

So I guess this is a Meta-Blogging post about the post that never was. This is getting more and more inside by the moment.
